“Someday…”
We bet you can think of a variety of ways to finish that statement – with things you’ve always dreamed of doing, but put in the back of your mind until you have the money, means or time to pursue them. But what about your senior parents? Don’t they still have aspirations, hopes, and dreams they would like to connect with that “someday”?
Everybody has some sort of a bucket list, and older loved ones are no exception to that rule. If a senior loved one seems unwilling or unable to dream up ideas to live life to the fullest, our Hinsdale home care providers encourage you to try these suggestions to stimulate his or her wishful thinking:
- Visit the town where he or she was born and raised
- Volunteer with a favorite charity
- Try a new hobby, such as scrapbooking or painting
- Create a legacy to pass down through writing memoirs
- Learn something new, such as a foreign language or musical instrument
- Adopt a new pet
It is important to consider that the things should be ones the senior is interested in, not just activities you feel he or she should try regardless of what he or she would like to do. Independence-4-Seniors’ in-home caregivers would love to get the bucket list conversation going with your older loved one, and then help you come up with ways to satisfy those goals. If you’d like more ideas, or for personal assistance with turning those “somedays” into “today,” or if you’d like to learn more about our dedicated home care services in Hinsdale, La Grange, and the surrounding area, please contact us today.
