Alzheimer's & Dementia Care in Hinsdale, Western Cook and DuPage County Area
Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or dementia can prove strenuous and overwhelming at times. One of the biggest challenges a caregiver will face is tackling the behaviors of the person for whom they are caring. It is difficult to see your 71 year old mother crying for her babies, or witnessing your 93 year old grandfather demanding that you get the birds out of the closet. Have you ever had to stop your older loved one from leaving in the middle of the night?
You are not alone in facing the challenges that come with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. At Independence-4-Seniors Home Care of Hinsdale, we provide dementia and Alzheimer’s home care assistance to families in need. It begins with our free assessment of your family/loved ones in their home to make sure the environment is safe, and then evaluating the care requirements to keep them comfortable and healthy at home.

Habilitation Therapy for Alzheimer's
Independence-4-Seniors Home Care specializes in the care of clients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. We have adopted and train our caregivers in "Habilitation Therapy" which was developed at the Massachusetts Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and is considered to be the best standard of care for all dementias. Habilitation therapy is a comprehensive behavioral approach to caring for people with dementia. It focuses not on what the person has lost, but on their remaining abilities, aiming to create and maintain a positive emotional state through the course of each day.
Habilitation therapy is successful because the caregiver:
- Makes the home environment work
- Realizes that communication continues to be possible
- Focuses on remaining skills
- Lives in the affected persons world
- Keeps their lives productive by including social activities
Habilitation therapy benefits caregivers, be they family, friends or professionals. The ability to enjoy time together and to share a relationship, activities and feelings can be uplifting for all.
